This will be brief because like all of you, I’m not even sure of what to say after what we just witnessed. Sometimes as a sports fan you find yourself asking why do you place your faith in a group of players you don’t even know. You experience something that makes you question why you do it all season long, every single year. But every now and then, that faith gets rewarded and it goes your way. Tonight, June 10th 2026, was one of those nights, a night we all witnessed a miracle.
The New York Knicks, off the back of a deflating game three loss on Monday night, were seemingly writing the next chapter in a horrifying collapse in the NBA Finals. For all the talk about a big response win off the loss on Monday, the Knicks couldn’t have put themselves in a worse position. They were down by 29 points with no real answers or composure, while the Spurs shot the lights out. We had all resigned ourselves to going back to Texas 2-2, the situation we all only contemplated in our worst nightmares. Like a fool, though I’m sure I’m not alone, I turned this game off.

But Captain clutch Jalen Brunson started to chip away and slowly but surely the Knicks found themselves back in the game. They started the fourth down 15 and were one run from really making things interesting, coincidentally the spot I chose to put the game back on. Of course they got that run and inches closer and closer with their usual late game poise we’ve seen all playoff long. Big shot after big shot eventually put the Knicks in front, but even that magic was undone by some uncharacteristic mistakes from Josh Hart who missed a layup and a rebound. Down 106-105…cue a moment you’ll remember for the rest of your life.
OG Anunoby, soaring in with seemingly the whole cities hopes on his shoulders, got the two biggest points out of his 33 on the night. The reactions are incredible, the images are incredible, the roar of the Garden crowd is incredible. It’s instantly become one of those moments that you’ll remember where you were when it happened. There was still 1.2 seconds left to survive, but Josh Hart took care of that denying the Spurs a shot at the buzzer to try and steal it back.

107-106, from down 29, the largest comeback in NBA history…a true miracle at MSG. The Knicks championship dreams were on seemingly on life support, but now they have a new lease on that life and are one win away from winning it all. That number shouldn’t be lost in the shuffle here though at all. For as great as that was, there is still one win left to get. The Knicks will get a shot to finish this off, up 3-1 in the series Saturday night in San Antonio. So enjoy this moment for now, be thankful for OG Anunoby for giving the Knicks the chance to win it all and rest up New York. You weren’t dreaming, your faith was repaid, and now it’s time to finish the job off!
