Hello friends, nice to be writing to you under more positive circumstances. The Mets bats came alive to take 2 out of 3 against the Brewers and Yanks respectively. The offense came through with some massive performances when the time was most desperate. Finally, I get to write about some good…

The Good

Brandon Keeps Banging: Nimmo stepped up in a big way this past week. The 2 grand slams he hit mashed this week were huge injection of life into a team that has been rocked by poor play the last month or so.

Great tidbit from Joe. Must follow for Mets fans.

Jeff McNeil Deserves Credit: I’ll admit it I’ve been super critical of Jeff McNeil the last couple of seasons. I haven’t always appreciated his attitude on the field. He changed his approach from a contact first hitter that won a batting title to trying to hit more home runs. I felt that really affected his game the last few seasons. After missing the start of the season through injury McNeil has been a very consistent contributor. He came through with a huge home run on Friday.

Mets get All Star recognition: n the past week Francisco Lindor, Pete Alonso and Edwin Diaz were named all stars. Remarkably this is Lindor’s first selection as a Met. This will be Pete’s 5th appearance and the second for Edwin Diaz as Met (3rd overall).

The Bad

Tyrone Taylor’s struggles: Taylor went 0-16 last week. I’ve written a few times about the struggles for the bottom of the order. At some point the center field position and 3rd base position may have to be addressed. I think Taylor is a fine fourth or fifth outfielder who comes in late for defense. But his bat isn’t going to cut it.

Highlight of the Week

Reinforcements Are On the Way (part 2): I think I wrote about this a few months back when the Mets were first bit by the injury bug but it seems as help is very nearly here. Jesse Winker has been rehabbing a ton down on the farm. Sean Manaea and Kodai Senga are close to making their returns. Don’t forget about Brooks Raley who made himself incredibly valuable out of the Mets pen in 2023. His return would be a huge addition for the 2025 Mets.

The Mets go on the road to Baltimore then Kansas City for 3 games each before heading into the all star break.

Please stand by and check out Nick’s Bronx Beat. I’m sure he’ll have plenty to say about the bombers.

“Our favorite teams bring people together, keep family members close, bond people from different generations. Some of the happiest moments of my life involve something that happened with one of my teams.”
