Good morning and Happy New Year Everyone! While we all work off the hangover from the New Years Eve celebrations, I thought it would be a nice idea to talk about what we’ve done so far and what to expect going forward here at the breakdown. Simply put this site was one of the best things to happen to me in 2023. As I said in my introduction article when we launched, this wasn’t my first foray into running a site like this, but the previous attempts never gained the momentum this one has. That momentum is a credit to you, the readers, for the support you offered along the way, something I am eternally grateful for. Whether you are family or friends, none of this would be possible without you!
I have to give a special thank you to some folks who are really responsible for our success so far. I must begin by thanking my wonderful partner in life, my girlfriend Briana, who was a driving force in encouraging my bringing this site to life. From being my “hype man” to a patient proofreader (thank God for that), I couldn’t have done this without you. I look forward to unveiling some of your contributions to what we do here in the new year! The same goes for my family who has always supported my endeavors from the time I was a young boy. The boost you all provide me inspires me to do what we love every day.
I also must thank some of our collaborators that we have worked with over the course of the year, especially the gang at the Rangers Ed Podcast and Oscar from Oscars Pro Stitch Hockey! The contributions you all made to our coverage of Henrik Lundqvists Hall of Fame induction was invaluable, bringing the experience home to Ranger fans who couldn’t attend the induction themselves. I look forward to working with all of you again in the near future on some exciting content that we will announce soon.
As far as what to expect in 2024, we will continue to let the good times roll as this project is all about having fun, though the frustration I express in some articles likely doesn’t show that. While many of our recurring pieces will continue, we have some new features that will launch as the seasons change. When the NFL season draws to a close, our offseason coverage will commence, as we drive toward the draft. We’ll continue our NHL coverage as the locals will look for 2024 to treat them as well or better than 2023 has so far. Not to be left out, March Madness will be here before we know it and we’ll cover the Tournament as it gets rolling. And of course, when pitchers and catchers report to spring training, we’ll get back to writing about the diamond regularly.
In closing I wish you all a happy and healthy New Year. The World is weird and toxic place right now, unfortunately it has been for a while, so hold tight to what you love and work on finding the joy in things. I don’t really believe in New Years Resolutions, but I plan to continue doing what I love and spending time with those I care about in 2024. Stay tuned folks, you won’t want to miss what is ahead!
