Year to Date: 8-13 (-5.96 units)

We were treated to a very solid slate of college football this past week and once again our pockets were hurt. It’s been tough sledding, all of my public picks continue to falter while every pick I don’t give out keeps hitting, I just can’t find any common ground. If things continue to get worse I may be forced to fire out all of my picks to the public every week in an attempt to get back to .500, but for now I will continue the conservative approach in an attempt to right the ship.

Nebraska -6.5 vs Minnesota -115

Will Matt Rhule have his Cornhuskers ready to play with al the rumors circulating about his future?

I’m extremely low on the Minnesota Golden Gophers this year and last weeks performance did nothing to fan those flames. For a 4-2 team, they continuously play down to opponents, highlighted by barely escaping a matchup with Purdue last week due to a turnover margin of 4:1 in favor of Minnesota. I just don’t see Nebraska tripping over their own two feet to that degree. With the recent news about James Franklin’s firing at Penn State and rumors circulating about Matt Rhule possibly being the front runner for the job, this looks like it could be a spot where Nebraska isn’t completely focused and falls apart, but I’m backing Dylan Raiola to keep the train on the tracks. There is a real possibility that Nebraska could end the regular season with 1-2 losses and could clinch a spot in the College Football Playoff, these are the type of games that playoff level teams need to put their heads down and handle business.

Air Force Team Total Over 30.5 points -130

Liam Szarka has been the motor of the Falcons high powered offense

In my first attempt this week to get back on track I’m going DEEP into my bag of tricks. I’m leading you wonderful readers on a trip to beautiful Colorado to back a service academy to score tons of points. Now I know this sounds crazy, but this years Air Force team has been an absolute wagon on offense. Liam Szarka has been a total weapon both in the air and on the ground for the Falcons, leading the offense in both passing (1025 yards, 8 TD and 3 INT) and rushing yards (584 yards, 8 TD’s). The key to this game is the Wyoming offense keeping up with Air Force, which I don’t see as a problem because of how bad the Air Force defensive unit has been. Air Force is giving up 40 points per game so far this season, and while Wyoming hasn’t lit the world on fire offensively I do see them keeping things close and allowing Air Force to continue to run their usual uptempo offense mixing in the pass and run game. Air Force games have gone 6-0 on overs this year, and while I do like the game total number of 57.5, I do like the team total number a bit more.

Missouri Moneyline vs Auburn +102

Beau Pribula will need to put last week behind him as he has another tough SEC matchup ahead of him

Auburn has to be one of the weirdest teams in college football, they have an elite level defense but their offense looks like they don’t know its legal to throw a forward pass or block the defense. Even with elite offensive weapons in Cam Coleman and Eric Singleton Jr., the Missouri defense has proven they can step up and shut down top tier talent. One of the reasons why Missouri can shut down this passing game is because Jackson Arnold will have no time behind a turnstile offensive line. The defensive front is one of the big reasons Missouri is 2nd in the country in total defense, allowing only 224 yards per game. Highlighted by Zion Young and Damon Wilson II, they should have big games. After a tough loss last week I think Eli Drinkwitz will have his team ready to play, and if the offense can find a bit more consistency in the passing game to mix in the elite run game, I think Missouri can put up more than enough to win outright.

“Our favorite teams bring people together, keep family members close, bond people from different generations. Some of the happiest moments of my life involve something that happened with one of my teams.”
