Year To Date: 6-6 (-0.63 units)
Seems like it’s one step forward and two steps back with these picks recently. A losing week in Week 4 puts us slightly back in the negatives, but the past is in the past. We move forward with fire in our eyes ready to win some money.
Tulane -13.5 vs Tulsa -128

I know the Green Wave let us down last week with an abysmal showing against Ole Miss, but that’s exactly why we’re running back to them this week. It was a completely uncharacteristic showing from Jake Retzlaff under center, only going 5-17 for 56 yards and helping the team score a measly 10 points. I’m not a rich man, but I’d put a whole lot of money we don’t see a performance like that from him again this week. Another reason I’m targeting Tulane is because the team they’re up against is in a massive let down spot. Tulsa had their biggest win of the season last week against a dumpster fire Oklahoma State team that they only beat by seven, and I find it hard to believe they can get back up after such an emotionally draining game just seven days ago. If Tulane can hold the Golden Hurricane run game, led by Dominic Richardson (5.3 YPC), in check and force quarterback Baylor Hayes to try and win it with his arm, we could be in store for a blowout.
Tennessee -7.5 vs Mississippi State -112

This is another spot I really love. Yes, Mississippi State seems to be firing on all cylinders, but at the end of the day I just don’t trust the Bulldogs to keep up this pace over a rough stretch of SEC play that starts at home against Tennessee. Joey Aguilar has taken over at quarterback for the Volunteers and has taken the offense to new heights, throwing for 1124 yards already with a 4:1 TD:INT ratio. A few weeks removed from losing a game in which they were in control for a majority against Georgia, I do believe that Josh Heupel will have his team ready and looking to make a statement. Having a spread outside of a football number does scare me, because more often than not the hook does come back to bite you, but I’ll have faith in the boys from Rocky Top to prove who the elite program is.
Georgia vs Alabama Over 52.5 -110

We’re going back to the SEC with our last pick today. Both Georgia and Alabama are coming off of bye weeks that have allowed them to get a bit healthier and game plan a massive meeting that could make waves at the top of the SEC standings for the rest of the season. Gunner Stockton continues to prove that he is the man to trust under center for the Bulldogs, and after a signature win against Tennessee he looks like one of the elite signal callers in the conference and someone who can lead a team to a playoff berth at the minimum. The Georgia offense hasn’t been the problem this season, they’re currently averaging 39 points per game, but the defense has been a different story. After facing two cupcake games in the first two weeks, Georgia allowed 41 points to Tennessee and were consistently outmatched on that side of the ball. Alabama hasn’t lit the world on fire this year but they do seem to have turned a corner and look much more comfortable with Ty Simpson leading the offense. Just like Georgia, Alabama also has some flaws on the defensive side. Both teams are outside of the top 120 teams nationally in creating a pass rush which should allow a now fully healthy Jam Miller to give the Crimson Tide a spark at the running back position. I can see this one being a back and forth battle, be on the lookout for some big point totals.
