What a win, what a night! The New York Knicks lead the Eastern Conference semi-finals 3-1 after a 121-113 win over the Celtics in game 4. That’s yet another sentence I didn’t think I’d type during this series, though that’s becoming a theme. Tonight was one of the grittiest wins yet, and that is saying a lot.

JB and Bridges did work down the stretch

The Knicks once again needed late game magic to win this one and they got it from their big guns! The fourth quarter was an absolute clinic from Jalen Brunson and Mikal Bridges, where they racked up a bunch of their points. In total Brunson went for 39 points with five boards and seven assists, and Bridges put up 23 with seven rebounds and three assists. Both were also very efficient, doing it on 25 and 21 shots respectively. That efficiency is part of what has made the Knicks a handful in this series, as the ball is being shared to benefit this offense, and it’s different elements.

KAT going hard to the hoop

This was evidenced by Karl Anthony Towns and OG Anunoby putting up numbers of their own. Towns had a marvelous game, probably his second best of the playoffs behind game 4 in Detroit, as he had 23 points with 11 rebounds. OG meanwhile had 20 points, which included four clutch triples down the stretch and some excellent defense. Josh Hart made his usual energy plays but wasn’t much of a factor offensively as he wound up in foul trouble.

What a wild scene outside MSG

Of course the Garden Faithful played their part tonight, urging on the Knicks as they made another second half comeback. The noise inside the Worlds Most Famous was incredible, as this was night 31 years in the making. It felt even better to defend home court for a change, as this was just the second Knicks home win of the postseason.

A tough scene for one of the leagues best

A lot of focus from here will be on the path forward, as the Knicks will ship up to Boston with a chance to close. The Celtics stare down elimination, potentially without Jayson Tatum. Tatum was nothing short of incredible Monday night at MSG, with 42 points before he left the game hurt. He had to be helped off the floor and was seen crying while being wheel chaired to the locker room. A sad scene for one of the leagues betters players as the injury seemed very serious.

Mikal Bridges was terrific down the stretch again

But this is not over by any means. The Celtics will hang in there, especially at home, looking got keep their title defense alive. The Knicks have to keep their intensity up and close this thing out. They have three cracks at it, but that isn’t license to mess around. The Knicks have the hammer in their hands and to quote Derek Jeter…“when you have a team down, you gotta kill ‘em.”

“Our favorite teams bring people together, keep family members close, bond people from different generations. Some of the happiest moments of my life involve something that happened with one of my teams.”
