Hello friends, welcome back to the Flushing Files edition of the Subway Beat. After a disappointing series in Minnesota in which the Mets lost back to back games for the first time this season the Mets bounced back and swept a 4 game series against the St. Louis Cardinals. Currently our beloved Metropolitans sit at 15-7. Let’s dive deeper into the week that was.
The Good
Luisangel Acuña steps out of his brothers shadow- If you haven’t heard Ronald Acuña Jr. has made headlines this past weekend.

But his younger brother Luisangel Acuña is emerging as a legitimate piece for the Mets. In his last 10 games is hitting at .393 clip while stealing 5 bases and playing steady defense. Jeff McNeil will be back with the big club eventually but Acuña is making himself an indispensable piece for the Mets.
Oh Captain my Captain – I run out of words to describe how excellent Francisco Lindor is. Talk about your Pete Alonso’s or your Juan Soto’s but this team goes as Lindor goes. Whether it’s critical defensive plays or walk off home runs our number 12 does it all.
The Bad

Danny Young Struggle – I’m happy to report it’s not easy these days highlighting negatives for the Mets. Danny Young currently has a 5.40 ERA in 6.2 innings. He was culpable for 2 more earned runs on Sunday against the Cardinals. If he doesn’t find it soon somebody will take that job from him.
Highlight of the week

Sheerin goes to the park – Thursday night I got the distinct privilege of watching the Mets in person. I love watching in person. It was beautiful night and the park was packed. I’ve been there through the dark days. I was there for Matt Harvey’s last start before Tommy John. I’ve been to games where there was more garbage blowing around the field than there were people in the seats. It was also nice to see the players and manager highlight the presence of the crowd.
That’s all for the Flushing Files this week. Coming up is a big 3 game series against the Phillies and then a 4 game set against the Nationals. LFGM.
