A rousing Notre Dame comeback fell short in last Monday Night’s National Championship game against the Ohio State Buckeyes.

Mitchell Evans and the Irish leaving the field after the loss

First half started with the Irish engineering a beautiful 18 play near 10-minute drive. Bully ball all the way down the field. Then Ohio State completely took control. All night the Irish couldn’t put enough pressure on Will Howard in the pocket. Nor could they cover the Buckeye receivers. The Irish rallied back from a 31-7-hole deficit o make it 31-23 largely in thanks to gutsy QB play and Jaden Greathouse. But they couldn’t quite get the job done.

I’m not going to break down every call every sequence in this game. Instead, I just want to hail this Notre Dame team. I’ve seen Notre Dame get absolutely smashed in a title game and playoff games alike. This team could have quit, they did not. Like they have all season they fought to the last second and I think I speak for most Irish fans when I say, you can’t ask much more than that.Year 3 of the Marcus Freeman era took us to a National Championship game and this group will be returning the likes of Jeremiyah Love, Jadarian Price, Adon Shuler so on and so on.

Freeman and his staff grew as a group, now they must keep it going

On a personal note, I’ve seen the Rangers lose in Eastern Conference Finals, the Mets lose in the NLCS and now Notre Dame lose in the National Championship game. Quite the year indeed.

“Our favorite teams bring people together, keep family members close, bond people from different generations. Some of the happiest moments of my life involve something that happened with one of my teams.”
