Let me start off by saying congratulations to Juan and his family. Signing this contract is a tremendous achievement. The family is secured!

No it’s not a dream, it’s reality. Steve Cohen got his guy. David Stearns got his guy. The New York Mets got their guy. 15 years 765 million is the price it took, and it’s loaded with incentives that could potentially take it to 800 million.

Soto is arguably the best hitter in the game. We’re talking about a guy who’s coming off a 41 home run season, in the prime of his career joining the New York Mets. He’s a career .285 hitter with a career OBP of .419. If you’re a Yankees fan I’m sure you’re familiar of these stats.

Just looking ahead the Mets absolutely needed to make another addition to this lineup. In the NLCS the bottom of the Mets lineup struggled to keep the line moving. Now you slot Soto in around Lindor and Vientos? That’s a formidable lineup.

But the big pictures is much more interesting. The Mets are not far removed from the dreaded Wilpon days. Who regularly penny pinched and showed no desire to do everything to deliver a championship. The fact of the matter is Steve Cohen will not be denied. He has a dream, a vision for this franchise to be a destination for players. Not the graveyard it had been at times. On top of that the Mets take him from the Yankees. And let me say, it is so satisfying.
