Last week was another tough one in what’s quickly becoming a season to forget for me gambling wise. Now on the season I sit at 18-22 -2.35 units. Still some time for a reclamation project but it has to start now.

Before I get to the picks I’m writing this on Halloween. In the spirit of that let me tell you another spooky.

The year is 2023 it’s day one of March Madness. Obviously there’s a lot on the line. Picks, brackets you’re going through the ringer. I bet #1 seed Alabama -23.5 against 16th seeded Texas A&M CC. It was a back and forth affair spread wise but with about 20 seconds left Nick Pringle throws down a funk to make it 96-72. The shot clock is off and the A&M CC guard is dribbling out the clock. It’s over, right? Wrong. Another player named Ross Williams sprints over and takes the ball from his teammate. He drives and throws up a 3 from the wing… bang it’s good Bama wins 96-75. I honestly went back and looked at the series of events to make sure I wasn’t embellishing and I didn’t.

Enough of that horror story let’s get to the picks.

Ole Miss @ Arkansas +7.5 o/u 53.5

If you took the under in everyone of Ole Miss’s games you’d be 8-1. Yes that is not an exaggeration. I think this is a perfect under spot. Arkansas put up 58 last week but they benefitted from 5 Mississippi State turnovers. Ole Miss just doesn’t put up numbers like you think they do. Under 53.5 book it.

Ohio State @ Penn State +3.5 o/u 46.5

This is a huge game with big playoff implications. Ohio State suddenly looks very mortal the last few weeks. The main reason for that is some big injuries on the offensive line and a overrated defense getting a little exposed. Meanwhile Penn State never beats Ohio State. They are winless against the Buckeyes since 2016. Drew Allar is banged up heading into the game. But I have an interesting thought on this game. These are two teams that aren’t fast paced on offense who will probably be looking to establish the run early. For that reason the pick is 1st half under 23.5.

Oregon @ Michigan +14.5 o/u 44.5

This season has completely collapsed for the Michigan Wolverines. Terrible quarterback play, offensive line struggles you name it Michigan’s offense has had the issue. Meanwhile Oregon has really rounded into form. They spanked Illinois and Purdue in recent weeks. I just can’t see Michigan scoring on this Oregon defense. Give me the Ducks -14.5. Quack Quack. This isn’t an official pick but I’d take a peek at the under if you were feeling greedy.

Florida @ Georgia -14.5 (neutral) o/u 51.5

The World’s Largest Outdoor Cocktail Party. It’s a damn shame this isn’t a marquee game because of where Florida is now. Credit to the Gators for not totally falling apart amidst a brutal season. But let’s face it Georgia is a totally different animal. I think Kirkby relishes the matchup with Florida and likes to hang it on them. So I’ll take the Dawgs -14.5.
