Year To Date: 10-12-2 (-2.8 units)
To put it nicely to our lovely readers, I am in the mud right now. I simply cannot get a run going to get us back into the black, but I will continue to fight. There are several Top 25 matchups that are enticing to watch, and even more that are enticing to place our hard earned money on. Let’s get to work.
BYU Moneyline vs UCF +105

One of the biggest surprises so far this season has been the dominance of the BYU Cougars in their first season in the Big 12. They’re looking to keep their undefeated season alive against a very game UCF team who will have home field advantage. Jake Retzlaff has taken the reigns at quarterback for the Cougars and has not slowed down from the get go, his 16 passing touchdowns is 10th in the entire nation, and he has proven to be a true dual threat option as he also leads the team in rushing. He has a big task in front of him as the UCF secondary is one of the best in the nation, picking off the opposition nine times this year so far. The UCF pass rush isn’t anything to write home about, so if Retzlaff can extend plays using his legs he will have the chance to make some big plays. On a four game losing streak, UCF decided to make a quarterback change and go with redshirt junior Jacurri Brown over the struggling KJ Jefferson. Brown has already showed some major potential as a passer, and that will only help the Knights open up space for their elite run game led by RJ Harvey. BYU struggles defending the run, so Harvey could be in for a big game. I do think this game is a coin flip, but BYU knows that they have a real shot of making it to the College Football Playoff, and this matchup looks like their biggest test for the remainder of the year. With UCF already out of Big 12 contention, I’ll take the team with bigger aspirations, especially as an underdog.
LSU +3 vs Texas A&M

Don’t look now, but the Tigers are heating up in a very up in the air SEC. This game comes down to one thing and one thing only, Texas A&M quarterback Connor Weigman stinks. Back after battling a shoulder injury, Weigman went 15-25 for 217 yards against a horrendous Mississippi State defense last week and should have ended the game with several turnovers. Their run game has saved them several times this season, but I think LSU is strong enough up front to keep them in check. The Heisman Trophy race has become basically a two horse race between Ashton Jeanty and Cam Ward, but I could see LSU quarterback Garrett Nussmeier making a late push to become a finalist for the award. In his first season as the starter things have started to slow down for the signal caller, he looks collected in the pocket, much different than the start of the year. Give me LSU with the points in this one.
Arkansas -6 vs Mississippi State

I feel like I’m in an abusive relationship with Sam Pittman and the Arkansas Razorbacks, but every week I come back for more pain. To be fair to them, they have been pretty profitable this season, it just feels like every game is a rollercoaster of emotions. This week they find themselves matched up with maybe the worst team in the SEC in Mississippi State who are currently riding a six game losing streak. Arkansas hasn’t lit the world on fire offensively, but Taylen Green has the ability to make some incredible plays with his arm and legs. This game is going to come down to pure talent, and I believe the Razorbacks have the clear edge.
