Hello friends, instead of talking teams we’re going to focus on individuals for a bit. We’re 4 weeks into the season so I’ll give my top 4 for the Heisman Trophy. Just to preface my rankings this isn’t based on odds (although I may tip my hand on who I’ve placed a bet on) it’s just my opinion. Without further ado my top 4.

It’s a canes thing for Cam

1. Cam Ward

Is The U back? It might be and Cam Ward is a massive part of that. 1439 yards passing, 14 passing touchdowns and a rushing touchdown to boot. Ward has been in complete control of the Canes offense to start the season. He was one of the most coveted players in the transfer portal and Mario Cristobal and Canes fans everywhere have been reaping the rewards so far. My only question is will voters hold his schedule against him? Yes I’m absolutely clutching at straws trying to play devil’s advocate but will Ward really get his Heisman moment to blow voters away? Clearly I’m not phased by it since I have him sitting at number 1.

Running Backs absolutely matter

2. Ashton Jeanty

Nobody in college football had a better first two weeks of the season than Ashton Jeanty. 20 carries 267 yards against Georgia Southern, oh did I mention he had 6 touchdowns? Jeanty then followed that up with a 25 carry 192 yard game against the top 10 ranked Oregon Ducks nearly leading his Boise State Broncos to a stunning upset victory. If the Broncos are to make it to the Mountain West title game and have a shot at the playoff then Jeanty will have to lead the way. Jeanty currently has +3300 odds for the Heisman and sits behind the likes of Carson Beck? I can’t work it out either but he could be a fun value pick.

Can Jaxson Dart bring hardware to the grove?

3. Jaxson Dart

The gunslinger from Ole Miss has flourished in Lane Kiffin’s offense. 1554 yards passing 12 passing TDs and 3 rushing scores. Dart has been the man for the Ole Miss to start the season. With all that said Dart faces a bunch of tough SEC defenses down the stretch run and a few duds in big spots could hurt his campaign. But I’m buying Jaxson and this Ole Miss team and think they have a shot at a conference championship and a top 4 playoff seed.

Superstar in the making.

4. Travis Hunter

Yes I’m absolutely including Travis Hunter. If we’re talking about the most outstanding individual player in college football it’s the Buffs’ two way star. He’s 6th overall in FBS for receiving yards with 472 so far this season while also being an exceptional corner. Will voters overlook how bad his team will likely be? Maybe, maybe not but I’m pulling for Travis (for no financial reasons at all) to at least make it to New York for the ceremony. Currently his odds sit at +1700 on FanDuel and again that could be a fun future to root for.

“Our favorite teams bring people together, keep family members close, bond people from different generations. Some of the happiest moments of my life involve something that happened with one of my teams.”
