Year To Date: 5-4 (+0.8 units)

Rough one last week, simply didn’t have a good read on most of these games. One favorite with an outright loss, a ten-point underdog never even having a shot to compete and an over that hit by the skin of it’s teeth, it was a roller-coaster of emotions all day. But nevertheless, we persist. We always get back on the horse and look to make our money back, and that’s what we’re doing in Week 4.

QB Josh Hoover needs to keep the Frogs moving this week on the other side of the DFW area

TCU -3 vs SMU

Going into the season SMU was looked at by many as a dark horse program that could make some noise after their move to the ACC. Those people were wrong, and to put it simply, SMU stinks out loud. Quarterback Preston Stone was benched for backup Kevin Jennings after an inefficient start to the season, and while Jennings brings more to the table as a runner, he doesn’t strike much fear into opposing defenses as a passer. The Horned Frogs are coming off of a heartbreaking loss to UCF this past week in a game where they led by 21 in the second half. They didn’t make a ton of mistakes in that game per se, they just let their foot off the gas. Quarterback Josh Hoover has been quite effective, throwing for over 300 yards per game and has yet to throw an interception. Against a middle of the road SMU defense, if he can take care of the ball the Horned Frogs should be in good shape.

All of a sudden Sparky has juice this season!

Texas Tech -3 vs Arizona State

While Arizona State’s resurgence has been a nice story, I have a hard time believing they’re this good. Are they a competitive team who plays hard for their coach? Absolutely. Are they a team that can consistently keep up with the faster paced teams in college football? Now that I have more trouble believing. It felt like last week’s blowout against North Texas was a turning point for Texas Tech’s season. They won in all facets of the game, and with running back Tahj Brooks returning from injury, they dominated the ground game that had eluded them to this point. It’s been a case of Dr. Jekyll and Mr. Hyde for the Red Raiders offense, as they’re alternated good and bad showings, but if quarterback Behren Morton can play free and easy like last week the Red Raiders should put up solid numbers.

The Irish look to make two W’s in a row at home this week

Notre Dame -28 vs Miami (OH)

Let me just start by saying this, I hate Notre Dame. I hate their fans, I hate their superiority complex, I hate that they’re too big of cowards to join a real conference, I hate their stupid TV contract, and I hate Touchdown Jesus. With all that being said, they will squish Miami like a bug this weekend. It’s no secret that the program is in a weird spot after one of the worst losses in program history two weeks ago against Northern Illinois, but they are doing their best to right the ship. A 66-7 win over Purdue was the first step, but they can’t stop now. They’re playing an inferior opponent that has scored just 22 points this season. Star transfer quarterback Riley Leonard has had a rough go of it in South Bend so far, for all of his success on the ground he’s still looking for his first passing touchdown of the year. This is a great spot for him to get himself back on track. In their first home game since that loss against NIU I fully expect the Fighting Irish to play a pissed off brand of football and win in dominating fashion.

“Our favorite teams bring people together, keep family members close, bond people from different generations. Some of the happiest moments of my life involve something that happened with one of my teams.”
