It’s Sunday afternoon and the regular season is three days away! Let’s go around the league and cover some of the latest news to put a bow on the offseason!

First Down

Cha-Ching: Well, the standoff is over, as the Niners and wideout Brandon Aiyuk agreed to a contract extension. Number 11 in red and gold agreed to a 4-year $120 million contract to stay by the bay and end some of the drama around this team. While it feels like an overpay for a player of his talents, he’s an important part of this offense and the Niners can’t afford to be without him as their quest to avoid becoming the new age Buffalo Bills rolls on.

Second Down

More Money than JR Ewing: Yes, the reference is dated, no I do not care. The Cowboys finally ended at least one of their offseason saga’s by locking Ceedee Lamb into an extension. Number 88 inked a 4-year $136 million deal with “America’s Team” and now will push to get ready for game action as soon as possible. This is only one headache for Jerry Jones that has gone away, as he now has to work towards settling up business with Micah Parson and Dak Prescott…I don’t envy that task at all.

Third Down

Coach Wants to See You: Unfortunately, when camp comes to a close, that means it’s time for roster cuts to be made. Players dreams unfortunately get crushed in these moments and amongst those guys there are always a few more notable names. This time around its Kadarius Toney and Desmond Ridder, two players who many felt had a lot of promise at one time, headline the group of players on their way out the door as camp comes to a close.

Fourth Down

You can keep your playbook: On the flip side of that coin are the players who had their dreams come true by making the final 53-man roster. Those wonderful moments are often documented when camp comes to a close and the Titans did a wonderful job capturing that themselves this past week. I’ll let the video do the talking from here.
