Hello friends, week 0 is in the books and all I have on my mind is helping you the reader make some extra money this fall. Generally with futures I like to bet a few win totals, one or two conference champions and usually one or two Heisman winners. In the spirit of that let’s take a walk down future street.
Win Totals
Washington Huskies over/under 6.5 wins

Last year the Huskies were fantastic, led by Kalen DeBoer whose personal record was so good he landed in Alabama. The offense was dynamic and the defense tough as nails. Unfortunately for the 2024 team they only return 2 starters and lose their coach. While they are in great hands with Jedd Fisch they draw a tough schedule. It starts easy enough with Weber State and Eastern Michigan in non conference play. Then it gets interesting with a “non-PAC 12” Apple Cup against in state rival Washington State. Wouldn’t the Cougars just love to stick it to Washington for bailing on the old conference they helped build? The conference schedule features Michigan, and USC at home and road trips to Iowa, Penn State and Oregon. Based on lack of returning production and a tough schedule my play is under 6.5 wins.
Iowa State over/under 7.5 wins

Iowa State returns 10 offensive starters and 9 on defense. QB Rocco Becht flashed last season and he returns his top 4 receivers. The big name I’m fascinated by this season for the Cyclones is Abu Sama. As a true freshman Sama ran for 614 yards and I think he’s primed to explode. The schedule is a little tricky for the Cyclones. Week 2 they head to Iowa to battle for the Cy-Hawk trophy, and they then have trips to West Virginia and Kansas. But the real scary part of the schedule is right at the end. They have to travel to Utah and then head home to play Kansas State. An absolute nightmare of an ending there but I like the Iowa State kool aid and I believe there are nine wins on this schedule. Give me Iowa State over 7.5 wins.

Virginia Tech over/under 8.5 wins
There’s a buzz in Blacksburg right now. No I don’t think Lane Stadium has started playing Enter Sandman yet it’s just the Hokies fanbase buzzing for this season to start. Kyron Drones is just so much fun to watch after 1900+ yards passing 600+ rushing last year. If he can be more consistent the Hokies can make some noise. They avoid FSU, SMU (though neither looked impressive in week 0) and NC State this season. Nine wins are certainly a possibility and for that reason I’ll say take the Hokies over 8.5 wins.
Conference Winners

NC State to Win the AC +650: A Favorable schedule for the Wolfpack as they avoid FSU, SMU, Virginia Tech and Miami. They do have to go on the road to Clemson but they may be favorites in the rest of their conference games. Dave Doreen’s squad feels like a solid group waiting to breakout.

Oregon to win the BIG10 +210: Yeah it’s a boring pick but hear me out. Whether it’s the Buckeyes or a surprise team in the conference championship game with Oregon in this hypothetical scenario you most likely won’t see the Ducks getting +210 money line in that game. So I’ll ride with the Ducks and maybe just maybe they’ll actually win a big game for once.

Let it be known that Mike Sheerin respects the hell out of the Group of 5.
South Florida +700: Coach Alex Golesh is building himself quite the program in South Florida. Have you heard of Byrum Brown? Well get ready to learn he has incredible size at 6’3 threw for 3,000 yards and ran for 700 as well. The bulls go to Memphis which will be tough but they get Tulane at home and avoid UTSA altogether. Give me the Bulls to win the American.
The Heisman

Jackson Dart +1400: With the departure of Quinshon Judkins I think more will be asked of Dart this season. If Ole Miss is in the SEC title game and the playoff picture come late November it’ll largely be because of the work Dart does at QB.
