What. A. Win! The Knicks, despite most predicting they would go to Philly and drop both games three and four, found a way to win Sunday, by a score 97-92 to take a 3-1 series lead home to the Garden on Tuesday night. After competing well in game three, it did feel like they had a chance to win today, but it was always going to be an uphill battle. After a slower start where the Sixers came out hot, the Knicks gained a foothold in the game and battled from there. In a season full of impressive performances, this is easily one of their best.

Relive number 11’s epic day

Any conversation about the game four win begins and ends with Jalen Brunson. After a miserable first two games in New York, Brunson went for 39 points in game three and a new Knicks playoff record of 47 points (previously held by Bernard King) in game four. The command performance was aided by a host of Knicks chipping in along the way today to help steal the win. Deuce McBride and OG Anunoby were in double figures while Josh Hart had another terrific game on the glass with 17 rebounds. Even Precious Achiuwa, who was called upon to back up Isaiah Hartenstein in the absence of the injured Mitchell Robinson had a strong rebounding game. While Brunson did the heavy lifting in the scoring department, the collective effort that led to the Knicks grinding out the win was very impressive.

There was an awful lot of orange and blue in the stands in Philly

Give credit to the Knicks raucous traveling support as well in this one, as they took over large sections of the rowdy Wells Fargo Center, much to the dismay of Joel Embiid. Now those fans get to pack The Worlds Most Famous Arena on Tuesday, looking for a series win. By no means is the job done, as I expect game five to be close, just like the first four games in this series. The Sixers will not go quietly but the Knicks have given themselves an unexpected opportunity by winning today, as they can wrap this up early and get time off for their thin lineup. In the words of Derek Jeter, “when you have a team down, you gotta kill ’em.” Hopefully the Knicks do and we get too have another wild party on 7th ave.

“Our favorite teams bring people together, keep family members close, bond people from different generations. Some of the happiest moments of my life involve something that happened with one of my teams.”
